A man has filed suit against the driver who he claims collided with his motorcycle while attempting to make a left-hand turn.
Edward Main claims he was driving a motorcycle north near its intersection with Scott Troy Road and Highway 50 in O'Fallon on April 8 when defendant William Bernreuter, who was attempting to make a left-hand turn, struck Main's bike.
Because of the collision, Main sustained severe and permanently disabling injuries, experienced great pain and mental anguish and experienced permanent injuries to his head and right leg, according to the complaint filed April 23 in St. Clair County Circuit Court. He also lost money because of his inability to pursue his normal occupation and incurred medical costs, the suit states.
Bernreuter negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to drive at a safe speed, failed to stop at the intersection and failed to keep his vehicle under control.
At the time of the collision, Bernreuter was driving the vehicle for defendant Bernreuter Sod Farms, the complaint says.
In his two-count complaint, Main is seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.
He will be represented by Bruce R. Cook of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer and Shevlin in Belleville.
St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-204.
