Med mal complaint against St. Anthony's claims doctor failed to intubate patient

A man has filed suit against the doctor who he claims caused him brain damage when the doctor failed to adequately treat him after he arrived at the hospital unresponsive.

Jonathan Kettelhake claims he arrived at defendant St. Anthony's Health Center on May 5, 2010, obtunded and unresponsive. At the time, defendant Dr. Roque Ramos failed to intubate Kettelhake, causing Kettelhake to suffer from an airway and gas exchange compromise and from brain damage, according to the complaint filed April 27 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Kettelhake's brain damage was caused due to lesions that developed on his brain, the suit states.

Because of his injuries, Kettelhake experienced pain and suffering, suffered disability and incurred medical costs, the complaint says.

In his two-count complaint, Kettelhake is seeking an unspecified judgment, plus costs.

John J. Hopkins of John J. Hopkins and Associates in Alton will be representing him.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-558.
