Driver claims she was rear-ended in heavy fog

A St. Clair County woman says she and her son were hurt when they were rear-ended by another driver who allegedly failed to see their car through heavy fog.

Bertha Moore, individually and on behalf of her minor son, filed a lawsuit April 12 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Peter R. Watson.

According to the complaint, Moore was driving with her son on Interstate 64 in May 2010. She says it was foggy as she exited at Green Mount Road. Moore says her Ford Escort was hit from behind by Watson's Honda CRV on the I-64 off-ramp.

Moore accuses Watson of negligence for failing to take the necessary actions to avoid the rear-end crash. She is asking for more than $100,000 in damages for medical expenses and court costs.

Attorney Stephen R. Clark of Belleville is representing Moore and her son.
