Ameren sues for $82K in unpaid services

A utility company claims it is owed tens of thousands of dollars from a corporation that has refused to pay for electricity provided to it.

Ameren Illinois Company claims it supplied defendant Storeyland with electric and other utility services for a set fee. However, Storeyland refuses to pay the money it owes Ameren, according to the complaint filed April 20 in Madison County District Court.

"Defendant has not paid its utility accounts in a timely fashion, and after all adjustments are made to the accounts, Defendant is indebted to Ameren in the amount of $80,287.44," the suit states.

On another account, Storeyland owes $714.70, the complaint says.

In addition to the money it says it is owed, Ameren is seeking pre-judgment interest and costs.

Edward Q. Costa of Samuels, Miller, Schroeder, Jackson and Sly in Decatur will be representing it.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-506.
