A driver who says she was hurt in a crash an interstate near Hamel is suing two other drivers she claims are responsible for her alleged injuries.
Chantily M. Elliott filed a complaint against Charles R. Graham and Michael L. Davis on April 5 in Madison County Circuit Court.
The alleged crash happened on July 2, 2010 on I-55 near the Township of Hamel, according to the complaint. Elliott does not explain the chain of events that led to the collision but says she, Graham and Davis were all driving south on the interstate when the other two drivers allegedly crashed into Elliott's vehicle.
Elliott accuses Graham and Davis of negligence for failing to control their vehicles, failing to keep a proper lookout and failing to slow down or brake to avoid impacting her car. Elliott says the crash caused internal and external injuries to her body "resulting in disability and disfigurement and which has caused and will cause her in the future to suffer great pain and mental anguish."
Elliott is asking to be awarded $50,000 in damages from each defendant to compensate for medical expenses, lost earnings, pain and suffering.
Attorney Gregory M. Tobin, of East Alton, is representing her.
