A Madison County woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims failed to yield the right-of-way while attempting to make a left-hand turn.
Amanda J. Moore filed a lawsuit April 5 in Madison County Circuit Court against Cierra R. Escoto.
In her complaint, Moore claims she drove west on 23rd Street near its intersection with Benton Street in Granite City on July 30, 2011, when Escoto, who drove east on the same road, tried to make a left-hand turn. Instead, Escoto struck Moore's vehicle, according to the complaint.
Because of the collision, Moore incurred medical costs, experienced pain and suffering, lost income and endured an impaired earning capacity, the suit states.
Moore blames Escoto for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to yield the right-of-way, drove too fast, failed to keep her vehicle under proper control, failed to have her brakes in working order, failed to keep a proper lookout ahead and drove carelessly.
Moore seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
Steven M. Dioneda of Kullmann, Klein and Dioneda in St. Louis will be representing her.
