Beelman Truck Company worker claims he lost job after filing comp claim

A man claims he lost his job because he filed for workers' compensation benefits.

David Reid filed a lawsuit March 26 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Beelman Truck Company.

In his complaint, Reid alleges he was working for Beelman on March 11, 2010, when he sustained injuries. Because of his injuries, Reid filed for workers' compensation on April 10, 2010, according to the complaint.

When Reid attempted to return to work on Dec. 6, 2010, he was told he had lost his job because of his filing for workers' compensation, the suit states.

Due to his job loss, Reid claims he lost income and benefits, sustained injuries to his reputation and endured mental anguish, the complaint says.

In his two-count complaint, Reid seeks a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.

Eric Kirkpatrick of Kirkpatrick Law Offices in Belleville will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-155.
