Driver failed to keep proper lookout, suit claims

A man claims he sustained various injuries after a driver rear-ended his vehicle.

Jerry Guest filed a lawsuit March 2 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Walter Klingerman and Margaret Sibert.

In his complaint, Guest alleges he drove on Illinois 15 and Greenmount Road in Belleville on March 15 when Klingerman struck the back of his vehicle.

Because of the collision, Guest sustained injuries, experienced pain and suffering, incurred medical costs and lost wages, according to the complaint.

He blames Klingerman for causing the collision, claiming he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision, drove too fast, failed exercise due care to avoid a collision and failed to observe other vehicles.

Guest also names Sibert as a defendant, saying she negligently lent her vehicle to a reckless driver.

In his two-count complaint, Guest is seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Blake G. Meinders of Belleville will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-121.
