A Highland woman is accused of crashing into another woman's car as she was trying to make a left turn in Marine Township.
Amber Spindler filed a lawsuit March 7 against Rebecca Cordell in Madison County Circuit Court.
According to the complaint, Spindler was driving south on Illinois Route 4 in March 2010 and slowed down to make a left turn on to Hunter School Road. Spindler alleges Cordell, also driving south on Route 4, tried to pass her on the left as if Spindler were making a right turn instead of a left.
When Cordell realized Spindler was turning left instead of right, Spindler claims Cordell tried unsuccesfully to stop but ended up crashing into the back of Spindler's vehicle.
Spindler accuses Cordell for negligence for failing to avoid the crash. She is asking for more than $50,000 in damages for medical expenses, loss of income and court costs.
Attorney Lon D. Weaver of Bethalto is representing Spindler.
