Injured man claims Caseyville driver was intoxicated

A man has filed a lawsuit claiming he was hit by a drunk driver in Caseyville.

Kestutis Gercys filed the complaint Feb. 17 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Adam Beaston.

Gercys says he was driving south on Highway 157 in February 2010 at the same rate of speed as the rest of traffic when he was hit from behind by a car driven by Beaston. Gercys alleges Beaston was driving while intoxicated and without his headlights turned on.

Gercys accuses Beaston of negligence and asks for more than $15,000 in damages for medical expenses, lost wages and court fees.

Gercys is represented by attorney Michael R. Glenn of Nokomis.
