Foot doctor sued in St. Clair County

Strellis

A St. Clair County doctor is accused of malpractice for allegedly causing a patient major foot trouble.

Janeth J. Wilson filed a complaint Feb. 10 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Dr. Victor L. Horsley.

Wilson began seeing Dr. Horsley in March 2008 for treatment of a condition known as IP fusion in one of her toes. She says the St. Clair County doctor, in March 2009, removed a screw from her big toe and treated an infection of the IP joint during a procedure performed at the Belleville Surgical Center.

In May 2011, Wilson says she sought out the opinion of a second doctor who allegedly told her ongoing trouble with her toe was directly related to the care she received from Dr. Horsley. She accuses the physician of medical malpractice.

Wilson says Dr. Horsley's care has caused her to suffer pain and "severe and permanent disability." She says he has caused her to pay extensive medical costs. Wilson is asking to be awarded more than $50,000 in damages plus court costs.

Attorney Jack A. Strellis of Waterloo is representing Wilson.

St. Clair County case number 12-L-80.
