Hughes

Five people claim they sustained numerous injuries after the car in which they were riding overturned when a driver failed to yield the right-of-way at an intersection.

Michael S. Marlo, Ryan K. Marlo, Linda A. Marlo, Danny Loucks and Adrianne D. Loucks filed a lawsuit Feb. 6 in Madison County Circuit Court against Rachel M. Dondero.

In their complaint, the Marlos and the Loucks claim they were riding in a 2002 Chevrolet Impala Michael S. Marlo was driving north on Illinois Route 4 on March 12, 2010. The Impala was approaching an intersection with Rose Road when Dondero, who was driving her 2001 Saturn west on Rose Road, failed to yield the right-of-way at the intersection.

"Rachel M. Dondero stopped at the stop sign controlling her westbound traffic along Rose Road at the intersection of Rose Road and Illinois Route 4, but then inexplicably proceeded into the intersection and into the path of the northbound vehicle being driven by the Plaintiff," the suit states.

Because of the collision, the Marlos and the Loucks incurred medical costs, experienced physical pain and suffering and lost their normal life, the complaint says.

In their complaint, the plaintiffs seek a judgment of more than $200,000 and medical costs incurred, plus court costs.

R. Courtney Hughes of Hughes Law Firm in Carbondale will be representing her.
