Two Dupo residents have filed suit against the driver who they claim struck their motorcycle.
Roger W. McLean and Careth J. McLean claim they were traveling south on Interstate 255 near mile post 14.6 on a 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle on March 20, 2011. Suddenly, defendant Jon W. Rooneo, who was driving a 1998 Ford Explorer in the same lane, lost control of his vehicle, causing it to overturn and the McLeans to crash into it, according to the complaint filed Jan. 17 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Because of the collision, the McLeans suffered great mental and emotional pain and suffering and sustained limitations, the suit states. They also lost their enjoyment of life, incurred medical costs and lost earnings, the complaint says.
They blame Rooneo for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control and drove too fast.
In their complaint, the McLeans are seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.
Robert C. Nelson of Nelson and Nelson in Belleville will be representing them.
