A Swansea woman claims she incurred medical costs after she and her daughter were injured in a car collision.
Doreen Poe filed a lawsuit Jan. 11 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Rashad Watkins.
In her complaint, Doreen Poe alleges she was driving west in O'Fallon on June 9, 2010, when Watkins, who was driving behind her vehicle, struck the back of it. At the time of the collision, Alisha Poe was riding with her mother in the vehicle, according to the complaint.
Because of the collision, the Poes suffered pain, the suit states.
Doreen Poe blames Watkins for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, failed to stop or swerve to avoid a collision, failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision and failed to keep a proper lookout.
In her three-count complaint, Doreen Poe is seeking a judgment of more than $150,000.
Gary L. Bement of Bement and Stubblefield in Belleville will be representing her.
St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-19.
