I-270 rear-end accident causes injuries, suit claims

A woman claims she endured pain and suffering after a driver rear-ended her vehicle.

Linda C. Debolt filed a lawsuit Dec. 28 in Madison County Circuit Court against Savanna Machell Mattingly.

In her complaint, Deblot claims she was driving east on Interstate 270 near mile post 0 in Madison County on Oct. 12, 2010, when Mattingly, who was driving behind her, struck the back of her vehicle.

In addition to her pain and suffering, Debolt incurred medical costs, suffered great emotional distress and lost her normal life, according to the complaint. She was also disabled and disfigured, the suit states.

Debolt blames Mattingly for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep her vehicle under proper control, drove too close to the back of Debolt's vehicle, drove too fast and failed to reduce her speed to avoid a collision.

In her complaint, Debolt seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

H. Kent Heller of Heller, Holmes and Associates in Mattoon will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 11-L-1441.
