A trial involving an Edwardsville nursing home that had been scheduled to begin Monday in Madison County, has been continued.
The executor of a deceased Edwardsville man's estate had sued Edwardsville Nursing and Rehab Center in 2006, alleging the former resident had dislocated his hip while living at the center.
The case is scheduled for mediation today, according to a motion for continuance filed last Thursday.
Ronnie K. Williams claims Wilburn W. Williams fell Dec. 29, 2007, while at the facility and dislocated his hip, according to the lawsuit.
Because of his injury, Wilburn W. Williams' prior physical condition deteriorated. He incurred medical costs, suffered great pain and anguish and experienced a permanent disability, the suit states.
Edwardsville Nursing and Rehab Center was allegedly negligent by failing to timely report Wilburn W. Williams's injury and by failing to notify his physician of the accident, the suit states.
Williams is seeking more than $50,000 in damages.
The defense denies the allegations.
Williams is represented by Robert H. Gregory of the Law Office of Robert H. Gregory in East Alton.
Anthony E. Dos Santos represents St. Marys Health Center Investors.
