Man claims sister's throat slashed by husband in wrongful death lawsuit

Brown

The brother of a recently deceased woman claims in recently filed court documents that her husband killed her by slitting her throat.

Muawiya Huneidi filed a lawsuit Dec. 16 in Madison County Circuit Court against Kamil Mikhael, personal representative of the estate of Khalil Mikhael.

In his complaint, Muawiya Huneidi alleges his sister, Marwa Huneidi, died at the hands of her husband, Khalil Mikhael, on Oct. 17, 2011, in their Edwardsville home.

"In disregard of his duty to plaintiff's decedent, defendant's decedent knowingly and without legal justification, killed her by cutting her throat with a knife and striking her in the head with a hard object, thereby causing her great pain and death," the suit states.

Khalil Mikhael then killed himself, leaving behind the couple's minor daughter, who has suffered from the loss of her mother's companionship and has experienced grief, sorrow and mental suffering, according to the complaint.

In his two-count complaint, Muawiya Huneidi seeks an unspecified judgment, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Joseph R. Brown Jr. of Lucco and Brown Law Offices in Edwardsville will be representing him.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 11-L-1385.
