A Madison woman claims she sustained physical injuries after a driver struck the vehicle in which she rode as a passenger.
Rosetta Watts filed a lawsuit Nov. 7 in Madison County Circuit Court against Judith Belshe.
In her complaint, Watts claims she rode in a vehicle traveling north on Edwardsville Road on Nov. 17, 2009, when Belshe, who was driving south on the same road, disobeyed a red light and struck the vehicle in which Watts rode.
In addition to her injuries, Watts incurred medical costs, lost wages, suffered disfigurement and disability and has been restricted in her normal activities.
She blames Belshe for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove too fast, failed to reduce her speed to avoid a collision and failed to control her vehicle.
Watts seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
William J. Mateyka and George H. Albers of Mateyka and Associates in Granite City will be representing her.
