O'Fallon woman claims injuries in suit

An O'Fallon woman has filed suit against the driver of a vehicle who she claims rear-ended her.

Toronica Jenkins claims she was driving on North Greenmount Road near its intersection with Greenmount Crossing Drive in Shiloh on Nov. 18, 2009, when defendant Carl Gray, who was driving in the same direction, struck the back of her vehicle.

Because of the collision, Jenkins sustained internal and external injuries and experienced pain and suffering, according to the complaint filed Nov. 10 in St. Clair County Circuit Court. In addition, she incurred medical costs and lost wages, the suit states.

Gray negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, failed to brake to avoid a collision, failed to stop or swerve to avoid a collision and failed to observe Jenkins, the complaint says.

In her complaint, Jenkins is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

She will be represented by Ronald J. Foster Jr. of Schoen, Walter, Telken and Foster in East St. Louis.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 11-L-634.
