A Randolph County man is accused of backing his car into another man and knocking him to the ground.
Ray Kipping filed the lawsuit against Bud Rhodes. The complaint, first filed in Randolph County Circuit Court, was moved to Madison County Circuit Court on Oct. 25.
The alleged incident happened in May in Baldwin. According to the complaint, Kipping was standing behind Rhodes' car when Rhodes allegedly backed up and hit him, causing Kipping to fall.
Kipping says he hurt his knee and shoulder in the fall. He says he required surgery and hospital care to treat the injuries. Kipping is suing Rhodes for negligence for failing to realize he was behind the vehicle prior to backing up. Kipping asks for more than $50,000 in damages to compensate for medical bills and court costs.
Attorney Lanny Darr of Alton is representing Kipping.
