Cherokee parked on bridge causes accident in Kane, suit claims

A Carrollton woman says she was hurt when the car she was riding in crashed into another car that was allegedly left parked on a bridge.

Joann Roth filed a lawsuit Oct. 20 in Madison County Circuit Court against Rebecca Lane.

According to the complaint, Roth was a passenger in a car driving north on US 67 in December 2009. As they crossed the Macoupin County Bridge in Kane, Roth says they crashed into a Jeep Cherokee that was paritially blocking the northbound lane of traffic.

Roth claims Lane, the driver of the Cherokee, had been in a crash prior to her arrival and left the damaged Jeep parked in the roadway.

Roth accuses Lane of negligence and asks for more than $75,000 in damages for medical expenses and court costs.

Attorney Katie Hubbard of Edwardsville is representing Roth.
