Driver sues over multi-car accident in Bridgeton

Darr

A Godfrey woman claims she sustained temporary and permanent injuries after a driver behind her caused a multi-car collision.

Peggy Fessler filed a lawsuit Oct. 17 in Madison County Circuit Court against Jacob Anthony Ochsner.

In her complaint, Fessler alleges she stopped her 2007 Chevrolet Impala for traffic on MO 180 in Bridgeton on Nov. 7. Suddenly, Ochsner, who drove a 2002 Nissan Altima on the same road, struck the rear-end of the driver of the vehicle behind Fessler. In turn, that driver struck Fessler's vehicle, according to the complaint.

In addition to her injuries, Fessler incurred medical costs and was prevented from attending to her usual duties, the suit states.

She blames Ochsner for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove too fast, failed to exercise proper control over his vehicle and failed to brake.

Fessler seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Lanny Darr and Carla Tobert of Schrempf, Kelly, Napp and Darr in Alton will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 11-L-1063.
