A St. Clair County man is accused of failing to pay more than $53,000 in student loans.
The Higher Education Loan Authority of the State of Missouri filed a lawsuit against Chet A. Kelly Oct. 13 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
According to the complaint, Kelly took out a student loan in July 2005 and another in August 2006. The State of Missouri claims Kelly has made payment of only $3,069 on the loans. The agency says it is still owed more than $53,000.
The Loan Authority is asking to be paid the remaining balance of the loan along with interest and court costs.
