Scott
CHICAGO - Russell K. Scott, a senior litigation officer with Greensfelder, Hemker & Gale, P.C. in Belleville, and co-manager of the firm's Southern Illinois Practice Group, has been elected secretary of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA).
Long active in the ISBA, he is a member of the Board of Governors and previously served as a member of its Assembly and is active on the Standing Committee on Judicial Evaluations, among other posts.
He served for a two-year term (2004-06) as president of the Illinois Bar Foundation, the ISBA's charitable arm. In April 2009, he was among nine exemplary Illinois attorneys who were inducted as Laureates of the Academy of Illinois Lawyers established in 1999 by the ISBA to celebrate excellence in the practice of law by individuals who maintain the highest standards of professional and public service.
Scott, who concentrates his law practice in the defense of industrial accidents, product liability and toxic tort cases, has been active in numerous other professional and civic endeavors. He is former president, chair of the board and chief volunteer officer of the Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation and holds numerous other appointed and volunteer positions at the state and local levels.
Scott received his B.A. in 1971 from Earlham College in Richmond, Ind., and his J.D. in 1974 from Washington University in St. Louis.
The 33,000-member ISBA, with offices in Springfield and Chicago, provides professional services to Illinois lawyers, and education and services to the public.
