I-255 accident causes injuries, woman claims

A woman claims she incurred more than $7,000 in damages following a collision with a tractor-trailer.

Sheila Heard filed a lawsuit Aug. 11 in Madison County Circuit Court against Uri Shander and his employer YRC Inc.

In her complaint, Heard alleges she drove south on Interstate 255 in Madison County on Oct. 8 when Shander, who was driving a tractor trailer for YRC in the same direction, struck her.

Because of the collision, Heard suffered injuries to her head, lumbar spine, back and neck and experienced pain, according to the complaint. She incurred medical costs of more than $7,000 and lost wages of more than $2,500, the suit states.

Heard blames Shander for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a careful lookout, drove too fast and failed to yield the right-of-way.

Heard seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

William K. Meeham of Meeham Law Firm in Missouri will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 11-L-801.
