A man claims he received head, neck and back injuries after a driver collided with his vehicle.
Andrew Sarver filed a lawsuit Aug. 3 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Charles Benton.
In his complaint, Sarver alleges he drove south on Illinois State Route 4 near the Interstate 64 interchange north of Mascoutah on June 26, 2010, when Benton, who drove a truck with a trailer hitched to the back in a northerly direction on the same road, struck his vehicle.
Sarver blames Benton for causing the collision, saying he negligently drove too fast, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control and failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision. In addition, Benton negligently drove a truck with a trailer that was not properly attached and failed to properly maintain the trailer, according to the complaint.
In his complaint, Sarver seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Brendan M. Nester of Donovan, Rose and Nester in Belleville will be representing him.
