Odd twist in Wood River official's disappearance; Dona involved in one-car accident on I-44

Dona's image was captured Monday morning by an ATM camera at Mid Rivers Mall in St. Peters, Mo.

Wood River Police Chief Otis Steward said that Leslie Dona, Assistant Finance Director for the City of Wood River, was located at 3 a.m. today by police in Eureka, Mo.

"She's safe, she's fine and by herself," Steward said.

Dona, who also serves as the city's assistant treasurer, was reported missing when she failed to show up to work on Monday morning, which co-workers claimed was unusual. Dona, 41, has worked for the city for 17 years.

But, Steward said an odd twist occurred when Dona became involved in a one-vehicle accident on eastbound on I-44 near I-270 this morning at 8:20 a.m.

Steward said Dona suffered broken ribs and a minor head injury. She is hospitalized at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis, he said.

She was in the emergency room as of 11:40 a.m.

On Monday, Dona's photo was captured by a camera at an ATM at the Mid Rivers Mall in St. Peters, Mo.

Steward said the missing persons report is no longer a law enforcement matter.
