A woman claims she suffered a broken right wrist and had to undergo surgery and a man says he suffered injuries after three intoxicated people allegedly assaulted them.
Cynthia Goben and Adam Darr filed a lawsuit Aug. 1 in Madison County Circuit Court against The Palace and Rhonda Cato.
Goben and Darr allege they were sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot of The Palace on Aug. 22 when the assault occurred after bartender Rhonda Cato served three people alcohol. The patrons became intoxicated and were thrown out of the bar when they subsequently assaulted Goben and Darr, according to the complaint.
Because of the assault, Goben and Darr experienced pain and suffering, incurred medical costs, became disabled and have been unable to pursue their normal activities, the suit states.
In their four-count complaint, Goben and Darr seek a judgment of more than $200,000, plus costs.
Michael P. Glisson of Williamson, Webster, Falb and Glisson in Alton will be representing them.
