A Madison County woman who allegedly fell in her room and broker her hip says the nursing home where she lives is to blame.
Blanche Hicks filed a lawsuit July 19 in Madison County Circuit Court against Eden Retirement Center Inc., doing business as Eden Village.
According to the complaint, Hicks moved into Eden Village in November 2010. Shortly after that, Hicks says, she was left unattended by the nursing staff and fell in her room, breaking her hip. The woman accuses Eden Village of negligence and of violating Illinois' Nursing Home Care Act.
Hicks is asking for more than $50,000 in damages for medical expenses and court costs. She is represented by attorneys J. Michael Weilmuenster and Nathaniel O. Brown of Belleville.
