Hylla
Madison County Circuit Judge David Hylla is scheduled to hear motions Friday in a suit brought against the former law firm run by deceased attorney Lance Mallon and his successors by a former firm associate who claims she wasn't properly paid for work she did during Mallon's illness.
Hylla is set to hear motions in the case filed by Dawna Hale at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
Hylla had pushed off hearing the pending moves in the case in June in an order that indicated the parties were potentially in settlement talks.
Currently, there is no indication in the case file that Hale has reached a settlement with Jeanette Mallon, the representative of Lance Mallon's estate, Keith Short, Mallon & Short, the successor to Lance Mallon's previous law firm, Jennifer Rushton, and Mark Goldenberg.
Motions that are currently pending in the case include a motion to compel the production of documents in the case.
That motion, filed June 2, is the most recent filing in the suit.
Lance Mallon died last year after a battle with cancer.
Hale claims she wasn't paid fees for work she did while Mallon was ill.
She is seeking damages in excess of $40,000 and other relief.
Several of the defendants have moves pending to dismiss Hale's claims against them.
Hale has also filed to intervene in Mallon's probate case but that move is on hold pending the outcome of the civil suit.
