Collinsville Rural King sued by woman who tripped over flat bed cart

A woman is suing the owners of a Collinsville store after allegedly tripping over a cart left in an aisle.

Darlene J. Chambless filed a complaint July 12 in Madison County Circuit Court against Rural King Holding Co., doing business as Rural King. The defendant is the owner of a retail store on Collinsville Road in Collinsville.

Chambless says she was shopping at Rural King in November 2010 when she allegedly tripped over a flat bed cart left in an aisle. The woman says she hurt her knees, hips, back and shoulders when she fell.

Chambless says the store was negligent for failing to keep the aisles clear of hazards and for allowing a cart to obstruct the walkway. She is asking Rural King to pay an undetermined amount of money in damages for medical expenses pain and suffering.

Attorney Robert C. Nelson of Belleville is representing Chambless.
