A New Athens woman is being sued by a lender that says she owes more than $74,000 after allegedly defaulting on multiple notes.
SLM Education Credit Finance Corp. filed the lawsuit June 23 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Cassandra A. Badgett.
According to the complaint, SLM Education Credit Finance Corp. loaned Badgett the money in August 2010. The woman allegedly signed promissory notes agreeing to repay the debt along with interest. The lender says it has demanded repayment but Badgett has allegedly refused.
The bank contends Badgett owes $64,428 in principal along with 9-percent interest, court costs and attorney fees of $9,665. SLM Education Credit is asking a Judge to issue an order demanding repayment of the full amount due.
