Hylla set to hear couple's motion to compel in suit against Boy Scouts of America

Hylla

Madison County Circuit Judge David Hylla is set to hear arguments on a motion to compel filed by a couple suing the Lewis & Clark Council of the Boy Scouts of America over an accident at a Godfrey campground.

Plaintiffs John and Brenda Gremli filed the motion last month asking Hylla to compel production in their 2011 suit.

The judge is set to hear the motion Friday at 9:30 a.m.

The Gremlis are seeking damages in excess of $150,000 and other relief in relation to injuries John Gremli allegedly suffered while camping on the defendant's property.

While camping on the site, the plaintiffs contend that a rotten tree that was allowed to remain standing fell on John Gremli's tent, trapped, and injured him.

The incident led to the amputation of John Gremli's leg, according to the complaint.
Brenda Gremli claims to have suffered damages under the Illinois Family Medical Expense Act.

The defense denies the suit's claims.

Robert Gregory represents the plaintiffs.

James Craney represents the defense.

The case is Madison case number 11-L-021.
