A Granite City man has filed suit against the driver who he claims rear-ended his vehicle.
Frederick B. Cavins claims he was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Edwardsville Road and Route 162 in Granite City on June 27, 2009, when defendant Anthony W. Rowland, who drove a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado in the same direction, rear-ended him.
Because of the collision, Cavins sustained severe injuries, experienced pain and suffering, incurred medical costs and lost wages, according to the complaint. In addition, he lost his enjoyment of a normal life and suffered disability, the suit states.
Rowland negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, failed to reduce his speed for the conditions on the road, drove too fast, followed another vehicle too closely and failed to reduce his speed, the complaint says.
In his complaint, Cavins is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
Eric J. Carlson of Byron, Carlson, Petri and Kalb in Edwardsville will be representing him.
