Route 4 at Route 177 accident is subject of suit

A St. Clair County woman wants the driver of the car that allegedly rear-ended her to pay for her injuries received in the crash.

Debra Houglan filed a lawsuit June 21 against Richard Harper in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

According to the complaint, Houglan was driving south on Illinois Route 4 in September 2009. As she was stopped at the intersection of Route 177, Houglan says she was hit from behind by Harper, who was driving his work truck and towing a trailer.

Houglan accuses Harper of negligence and asks for $50,000 in damages for medical expenses and court costs. She is represented by attorney Kevin J. Kubitschek, of Belleville.
