A Lenzburg woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims rear-ended her vehicle.
Katherine A. Kaemmerer claims she was driving a 2004 Ford Taurus west on Franklin Avenue on May 17, 2009, at its intersection with Mulberry Street when defendant Frank L. Romani crashed a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu into her vehicle.
Because of the collision, Kaemmerer suffered a traumatic brain injury, facial lacerations and contusions and left shoulder injuries, according to the complaint. In addition, she incurred medical costs, suffered disability, lost her enjoyment of life, sustained disfigurement and lost wages and her earning capacity, the suit states.
She blames Romani for causing the collision, saying he negligently told bystanders he looked down while driving, failed to keep a proper lookout, drove too fast and drove while under the influence of alcohol.
In addition to Romani, Kaemmerer names Greg Weeks Benton doing business as Weeks Chevrolet as a defendant, saying it permitted Romani to drive the Chevrolet.
In her complaint, Kaemmmerer seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
Michael L. McGlynn of McGlynn and McGlynn in Belleville will be representing her.
St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 11-L-310.
