A case management conference is set in a suit brought by a break-away Roman Catholic church against its former attorneys.
Meanwhile, a move filed by defendant Greensfelder, Hemker, and Gale P.C. to take the suit filed by Polish-Roman Catholic St. Stanislaus Corporation across the river to Missouri remains pending.
The status conference in the case is set June 13 at 9 a.m. before St. Clair County Circuit Judge Lloyd Cueto.
The March 3 order setting the suit for a status conference is the only action filed in the case this year.
St. Stanislaus is suing its former attorneys over information it claims Greensfelder attorneys obtained from the church while the firm represented it and then used against St. Stanislaus in a lawsuit involving the St. Louis Archdiocese.
The St. Louis Archdiocese has been battling for control of St. Stanislaus for a number of years.
The Missouri lawsuit over control of the church remains on-going.
St. Stanislaus broke away from the archdiocese after a falling out with then-St. Louis Archbishop Raymond Burke.
Burke is a cardinal working with the Vatican ecclesiastical courts.
The suit remains on-going under St. Louis Archbishop Robert Carlson.
Greensfelder has accused St. Stanislaus of "forum-shopping" in its December 2010 motion to transfer the case.
It points to the lack of connection between the St. Stanislaus dispute and St. Clair County.
The case was formerly assigned to St. Clair County Circuit Judge Robert LeChien.
Thomas Keefe Jr. represents St. Stanislaus in the St. Clair County suit against Greensfelder.
Michael Nester represents the law firm.
The case is St. Clair case number 10-L-545.
