Cahokia liquor store sued by customer shot in robbery

A Cahokia man is suing the owners of a local liquor store after he was allegedly shot during a robbery.

Napoleon Willams filed the lawsuit April 26 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Parnik Property Management LLC, doing business as Best Stop Groceries and Liquor.

Williams says he was shopping in the Best Stop on Camp Jackson Street in June 2010 when an armed robber allegedly shot him in the hip.

The customer accuses Parnik of negligence for failing to provide a safe place to shop. Williams is asking for more than $100,000 in damages for medical expenses, loss of income and court costs.

Attorney Eric M Rhein of Belleville is representing Williams.
