Spragues' car accident suit set for status in August

A personal injury suit filed by Belleville attorney Robert Sprague and his wife, St. Clair County Auditor Patty Sprague, is set for a status conference in August.

The suit, seeking damages in excess of $50,000, stems from a 2009 accident involving the Spragues and defendant Adriano Silva.

The Spragues allege that Silva ran a stop sign, hit their car, and injured them.

St. Clair County Circuit Judge Lloyd Cueto signed an order May 3 setting the case for the
August status conference.

Silva admits he ran the stop sign but points to a defect in his brakes.

Silva asked for and was granted a change of judge in February.

The case had been assigned to St. Clair County Circuit Judge Robert LeChien before that move took the case to Cueto's docket.

The status conference is set to begin at 9 a.m.

Robert Sprague represents himself and his wife.

Martin Clay represents Silva.

The case is St. Clair case number 09-L-561.
