Maryville winery owner claims company installed shoddy roof

The owner of a Maryville winery accuses a roofing company of installing a shoddy roof on one of her buildings.

Judy S. Wiemann filed a lawsuit against Lakeside Roofing April 29 in Madison County Circuit Court.

According to the complaint, Wiemann hired Lakeside in September 2008 to install a roof on her East Main Street winery. However, Wiemann says there were several signs of poor workmanship on the roof including panels out of line, gaps in the seams and no snow or ice cleats installed. Wiemann says she had to hire another roofing company, at a cost of $160,000, to fix the problems allegedly caused by Lakeside.

Wiemann is suing Lakeside for breach of contract, breach of warranty and consumer fraud. She is asking to be reimbursed the cost of the second roofing company and to be paid more than $150,000 in damages, plus court costs.

Attorneys Stephen C. Mudge and Trenton A. Galetti of Edwardsville are representing Wiemann.

Madison County Circuit Court Case No. 11-L-413.
