Waterloo Wal-Mart sued over man's parking lot injury

A St. Clair County man is suing the Waterloo Wal-Mart after he allegedly fell in a hole in the store's parking lot.

Edward Kempen filed a lawsuit April 18 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

According to the complaint, Kempen was visiting the store on North Market Street when he tripped and fell in a hole in the parking lot.

He accuses Wal-Mart of negligence for failing to repair the parking lot and for failing to warn customers of the potential danger.

Kempen is asking for more than $50,000 in damages for medical expenses, lost wages and court costs.

Attorneys Mark C. Scoggins and Anthony P. Gilbreth of Columbia are representing Kempen.
