A St. Clair County couple is suing the driver and owner of a construction truck that allegedly rear-ended them.

John W. and Beverly J. Harrison filed the lawsuit April 14 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Laverne Rogers and Dennis Stoeber.

The alleged crash happened in April 2009 on Route 161 in Belleville. The Harrisons say they were approaching the intersection of Royal Heights Road when they were allegedly hit from behind by Rogers. Rogers was driving an International Harvester truck owned by Stoeber.

The Harrisons say they were hit with enough force to push their vehicle into the car in front of them.

The Harrisons accuse Rogers of negligence and are suing Stoeber as respondeat superior, because Rogers was employed by him. The couple is asking for more than $200,000 in damages for medical expenses and court costs.

Attorney Kevin J. Babb of Edwardsville is representing the Harrisons.
