Karmeier to administer oath to new attorneys

Illinois Supreme Court Justice Lloyd A. Karmeier will administer the attorney's oath to 105 new lawyers who will be admitted to practice in Illinois on May 5.

The group is among 628 men and women who were certified as candidates and will be sworn in as Illinois attorneys at ceremonies in the state's five Supreme Court judicial districts.

The Collinsville program in the Fifth Judicial District will begin at 2 p.m. at the Gateway Convention Center, Center Hall A, which is located near the intersection of Route 157 and Interstates 55170in Collinsville.

Karmeier will preside over the ceremony and welcome the members of the class, families and friends.

John G. Locallo, president-elect of the Illinois State Bar Association, will be the opening
speaker. Locallo is partner in the Chicago law firm of Amari & Locallo, concentrating in
real estate tax assessment law.

Edwardsville attorney Gordon R. Broom, will also speak. He is partner with the law firm of HeplerBroom in Edwardsville. He focuses his practice on trials involving personal and bodily InJury.

Benton attorney Bryan Alan Drew will make the motion to admit the class.
