A former Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis employee claims he sustained severe injuries to his back, neck and wrists after years of work for the company.
Samuel A. Millard filed a lawsuit April 14 in Madison County Circuit Court against Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis.
Millard claims he worked for the railroad from April 1978 until June. Throughout his tenure with the company, Millard was required to work in awkward positions and to carry heavy tools and equipment, according to the complaint. In addition, he frequently had to perform work by hand because he was not provided with appropriate tools to perform the work for him.
As a result, Millard sustained the injuries alleged in his complaint and experienced disability, disfigurement, great pain and mental anguish and incurred medical costs, the suit states. He also experienced a diminished earning capacity, the complaint says.
Millard blames Terminal Railroad Association for causing his injuries, saying it negligently failed to provide Millard with a safe place to work, failed to provide safe tools, failed to provide safe methods of work, failed to provide enough manpower to perform a task and
failed to allow adequate time to perform a task.
Millard seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Robert W. Schmeider of Pratt and Tobin in East Alton will be representing him.
