Shakerz blamed in bar attack

A prior patron at a Granite City bar seeks more than $100,000 from the bar after he claims a bar employee attacked him.

Maurice Manns filed a lawsuit April 14 in Madison County Circuit Court against Shakerz of Granite City.

Manns alleges he visited Shakerz on May 1 when an employee at the establishment attacked him in the face and stomach without provocation.

Because of the incident, Manns suffered severe and permanent injuries, incurred medical costs and lost large sums of money, according to the complaint.

Manns blames Shakerz for causing his injuries, saying the bar negligently failed to provide adequate security to break up fights, failed to protect patrons from injuries and failed to warn patrons of the dangerous condition that existed.

In his two-count complaint, Manns seeks a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.
Morgan Scroggins of Scroggins Law Office in Granite City will be representing him.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 11-L-363.
