A St. Clair County woman is suing a Cahokia supermarket after she allegedly tripped over a crack in the store's sidewalk.
Samella Johnson filed a lawsuit March 28 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Schnuck Markets Inc., Scott Lewis and Wolff Construction Co.
Johnson says she was shopping at the Schnucks on Camp Jackson Road in November 2010. After finishing her shopping, Johnson says she left the store. Johnson says she tripped and fell over a crack in the sidewalk outside the store's front door. The fall allegedly caused her to hurt her hands, elbows and lower back.
Johnson accuses the supermarket, its manager and the construction company that created the sidewalk of negligence. She is asking for more than $150,000 in damages for medical bills, loss of income and court costs.
Attorneys Thomas C. Rich and Kristina D. Cooksey, of Fairview Heights, are representing Johnson.
