A St. Clair County woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims rear-ended her vehicle.
Violet G. Sharp claims she was driving south on North Green Mount Road in Belleville on April 15, 2009, when defendant Frank Lewis Massey Jr., who was also driving south, struck the rear of Sharp's vehicle after she stopped to make a left turn.
Because of the accident, Sharp was made sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled; experienced pain and suffering; and sustained injuries, according to the complaint filed
March 25 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Massey negligently failed to maintain proper control of his vehicle, failed to remain aware of his surroundings and failed to exercise reasonable care, the suit states.
In addition to Massey, Sharp names Cynthia Byas as a defendant. Byas owned the vehicle that Massey drove at the time of the collision, the complaint says.
In her two-count complaint, Sharp is seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.
Stephen R. Clark of Courtney, Clark and Associates in Belleville will be representing her.
St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 11-L-154.
