Hookers sue Belleville roller skating rink

A St. Clair County woman is suing a Belleville skating rink after she allegedly hurt herself while rollerskating.

Karen Hooker and her husband Larry filed the lawsuit March 25 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Rolo Skate Inc., doing business as Fun Spot Skating Center.

According to the complaint, the Hookers were skating at the Fun Spot Skating Center in March 2009 when Karen's skate allegedly got caught in a hair tie that had fallen on the rink floor. Karen claims the hair tie caused her to fall and seriously hurt her wrist.

The Hookers are suing the roller rink for negligence and loss of consortium. They ask for more than $100,000 in damages for medical expenses, loss of income and court costs.

Attorney Steven E. Katzman of Belleville represents the Hookers in this action. They ask for a jury trial.
