Collinsville laundromat sued over parking lot pothole

Giacoletto

A Collinsville woman blames a laundromat for causing injuries she sustained after falling in a pothole.

Judith Sterling filed a lawsuit March 30 in Madison County District Court against Collinsville Laundromat and Ulrich Flint Properties.

Sterling claims she visited the laundromat on Aug. 27 with the intent to wash her clothes. However, when she stepped in the parking lot, she fell into a pothole, causing her to sustain serious injuries, according to her complaint.

In addition to her injuries, Sterling experienced great pain and anguish, incurred medical costs and lost wages, the suit states.

Sterling blames the defendants for causing her injuries, saying they negligently failed to properly maintain the premises, failed to properly inspect the premises and failed to warn her of a dangerous condition.

In her complaint, Sterling is seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.

Steven C. Giacoletto of Giacoletto Law Office in Collinsville will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 11-L-297.
