A Brighton couple claims an insurance company owes them for hail damage to their home.
Joe and Jennifer Rister filed a lawsuit against Erie Insurance March 11 in Madison County Circuit Court.
The Risters say their Lakewood Drive home was covered by an Erie Insurance homeowners' policy when it was allegedly damaged by hail in May 2010. Under the terms of the policy, the Risters say the insurance company agrees to compensate them for the damage.
Despite the insurance policy, the Risters say Erie Insurance has refused to reimburse them for any hail damage. The couple calls the company's actions "vexatious and unreasonable."
The Risters accuse Eerie Insurance of breach of contract and of violating Illinois Insurance Code. The Brighton couple is asking for more than $100,000 in damages along with court costs.
Attorney Robert S. Forbes of Alton is representing the Risters.
